Police Say Man With Hammer Robbed Gas Station
Also: cash and candy stolen from Casa Laundromat, according to police report
Police say a man robbed a 26-year-old employee inside the Citgo gas station on Mount Vernon Highway on Saturday, Jan. 28, at around 6:45 p.m. The suspect entered the store, displayed the hammer and demanded money, according to police. The victim complied, and the suspect fled with cash from the register. The suspect has been described as black, about 6 feet 1 inch tall, and between 180 and 200 pounds. According to police, he was last seen in a black, hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans and white shoes. The victim didn't require medical attention.
The Casa Laundromat at 7320 Richmond Highway was broken into early Monday, Jan. 30, according to police. An employee arrived to work at around 7 a.m. and discovered the burglary. Police believe the burglar entered the laundromat through a ventilation unit. Cash and candy were reported stolen.
Police also report that residents of a home in the 4300 block of Gramercy Circle woke early Tuesday, Jan. 31 to the sound of their home's alarm. An unlocked lower level window was found open and a male teenager was seen running away from the house, according to police. They do not believe the suspect entered the home.
